LAWN TIPS

How to Achieve and Keep your Grass its Greenest

1. Core Aeration
Soil plugs are pulled out of the ground to allow more water, oxygen deep in to ground and help remove air pockets.

2. Dethatching/Rotoraking
Thatch is a perfect environment for insects and disease. Removing the thatch allows your turf to gain nutrients and retain more water. This helps the overall health of your lawn and allows fertilizer to reach its maximum potential.

3. Topdress
Use a triple mix soil and comb (rake) lightly and evenly throughout your turf while being sure you cover and struggling areas or depressions.

4. Overseed
Lawn seed will improve the density, establish improved grass varieties and help make your lawn more GREEN.
Depending on the size of area we recommend using a hand spreader(be sure you do not spray seed where you do not want it to grow)

5. Lawn Fertilization
Apply lawn Fertilizer to ensure a thick green lawn. Having a thick lawn will help prevent weed growth and ensure your lawn is strong and healthy.
*Contact your local Landscape Ontario company to inquire which fertilizer type will suit your property's needs best.

6. Water Management.
If you do not have an Irrigation system then you want to ensure that you keep your lawn moist until the seed has germinated. Be sure to monitor the area and do not let it dry out.

7. Lawn cutting
Using a sharp blade we recommend that you never cut your lawn below 2.5-3" inches. Leaving your lawn longer will allow your turf to become thicker, stronger and help prevent weed growth. Be sure to change the direction of the cut (4 directions) with each mowing. It is beneficial to mulch your clippings back into the lawn to add more nutrients
